Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to most of things you ask about PayPOS and Stripe

Is PayPOS a Stripe company?

No, we are not owned by Stripe. PayPOS was created in 2022 to solve a problem that we were facing ourselves: taking payments for our small cafe. PayPOS was built on a foundation of the Stripe Connect API to allow any small business to collect payments from their customers.

When will I receive my money?

You can check on the status of your transactions and transfers at any time by visiting your Stripe Balance dashboard.

The timing of your transfer depends on your status of your account, when you created it and how many transactions have occurred. The first transfer may take up to 14 days, with subsequent transfers happening on a rolling 2 day basis.

You can read more about transfers at Stripe Transfers/Payouts.

How do I get started?

Here's a simple 5 step guide to get started:

  1. Create a Stripe account here. You will have to link a bank account to your Stripe account so that you can transfer funds.

  2. Download PayPOS on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

  3. Connect your Stripe account with PayPOS.

  4. Key in your transaction and capture payment via OCR card capture, manual card entry, or Tap to Pay.

  5. Successful transactions will show up on your Stripe account, and you can transfer your funds to your bank account.

How much does PayPOS cost?

PayPOS is free to download from the Apple App and Google Play stores. We only charge a small 1% fee on top of Stripe fees. Stripe fees vary across countries or when charging international cards; learn more about Stripe pricing for your location here.

As an example, in the U.S., your Stripe fees are 2.9% + 30¢ per transaction. If you're using our Tap to Pay feature, your fees are cheaper at 2.7% + 5¢ + 10¢ for domestic cards.

Do you provide card readers?

No, we do not offer card readers (for now). We believe in simplicity in design and usage. By keeping things simple, you spend less time and money having to purchase, maintain and continuously upgrade unnecessary devices (that doesn't help you focus on growing your business).

Are there any monthly fees or limits?

No, there aren't. You're only charged based on what you transact. We understand your business fluctuates; we don't impose any fixed fees to help you focus on growing.

I want to pay a one-off fee only, not 1% of all my transactions. Can I do this?

Maybe. Our mission is to help small businesses take payments in the easiest, simplest and most convenient way possible. If our 1% fee is too costly, then we're open to talking about a fixed fee. Email us at business@paypos.app to tell us more, and we'll get back to you.

Do I need a Stripe account?

Yes, you will need one. Don't have one? You can create it here. Once your Stripe profile is complete you can log into PayPOS with your Stripe credentials.

Does PayPOS store my information?

No, everything is stored at and with Stripe. The only piece of information we store on your device is your API keys to connect to Stripe. If you delete the app, all of these keys are removed.

I need more help: who can I contact for support?

If there is a problem with your Stripe account, you can email Stripe using this form. If there is a problem with the PayPOS app (crashing, unexpected behavior, feature requests, etc), you can email us at support@paypos.app.
